Rose Canyon Cantina & Grill

Rose Canyon Cantina, is one of the magical hideaway places, away from the city, tucked into the hills with a beautiful natural surrounding. Approaching from the outside, it is a colorful restaurant with a large outdoor expansive deck shaded by large majestic trees and umbrellas. The trees are wrapped in strings of lights, making it feel even more enchanting at night. The water features, from the water fountain in front, to the really large waterfall in the back are spectacular. The check in lobby area is small, but quaint and welcoming. The interior again proudly displays its colors, from the beautiful pictures, to the brightly lit bar displaying all the bottles and under lit green glow around the seating. The staff is professional and friendly. I originally asked to dine in but quickly changed my mind after surveying the ambience out back. Once seated, I ordered their Signature happy hour margarita and decided upon a two item combination dinner to sample their fish taco and beef flauta. My +1 decided upon enchiladas with spinach and shrimp. After ordering, I excitedly began taking pictures of the surroundings. Our order arrived in a short amount of time and the servers were fantastically attentive in providing drinks, water or anything else you might need. The food was hot and looked delicious. The items looked fresh and carefully made and authentic. The quality of the food was incomparable and high above any large chain Mexican restaurant. The food was savory and scrumptious. I especially enjoyed my visit to Rose Canyon Cantina, from the backwoods drive through the hills going past Cook's Corner to this hidden little gem with extraordinary authentic Mexican fare. This is one of those places you hesitate to tell too many others about, but plan to visit often.

Made reservations for a party of 10 on Sunday afternoon. No problem with the reservation but we were told 2 hour limit for being sat. Now we stayed 2 hours and 20 but no one made a fuss. Plus there were still tables available so maybe they were cutting some slack. We were greeted right away and sat immediately. The waitress was very attentive and came over right away and got us water while we waited for the rest of the party. Everything was clean and the patio had a nice atmosphere. Our food once it was all ordered came out hot and together. Over all the food was good, the birria tacos had good flavor but Def wasn't traditional birria, no sauce to dip in ?? The cilantro rice was moist and had a good flavor. The pescado tacos were good and had good flavor. Finished with a fried ice cream and you can't go wrong there. Overall good experience and recommend.

It is a great restaurant. The food and decoration are Mexican, but the music playing in the restaurant was County music (Very pleasant.) The restaurant offers inside seating and outside side seating. Not all outside tables are covered, so if it rains, you’ll get wet lol. Today we came in today Tuesday around 4 pm. It was drizzling outside, we decided to seat outside, and it was really nice. Cool scenery in the back, and today they had all the Christmas decoration too. The hostess was very kind, there was no wait, so we walked right in. Our waitress Sam, was awesome. Very kind and welcoming. Great recommendations with the ceviche as an appetizer, it was fresh and delicious. Also, they had this Cilantro rice (I’ve never heard of it), but it was good! My wife and I were really enjoying our time here, it was relaxing, very peaceful, pleasant music, great views, great weather, and tasty food. We decided to take leftovers home, because we wanted to try the desserts lol. I’m a huge fan of flan. It was really good. I would definitely recommend this place! Worth checking out. Awesome experience overall! Lots of parking, it all gravel!

first time here! incredible atmosphere, specially seating outside, as the creek had a lot of water due to the rain in California in 2023. Old trees wrapping around the fabulous deck. Inside is just fine. Food was good as well as the Margaritas. Definitely a super nice Mexican spot nestled in the nature of Trabuco Canyon. Great options for the kids also!

Unique and remote location for sure. You need to go just for these reasons and are looking for a good meal Prices are reasonable and for the day I was there they were short staffed but the were able to still able to balance it out Portions are decent, food options good, quality is good Only complaint....serve more chips & salsa!!!! Serving a tiny bowl of chips for a hungry party of four does not cut it. Bring me 3 large baskets of chips and keep it coming especially if the food needs extra time to be served. More chips!!!
